Remember, Dr. Seuss was rejected almost 30 times before some brilliant publisher decided to look outside the box. Tweak, tweak...and rest.

Laura, it sounds to me like your process works for you. You wrote the first draft in the POV that made it easier to get the bones of the story down, and then you later revised to a third person POV, making it stronger. You didn't stubbornly stick ...

Laura, no matter how many you get, don't let it discourage you. Persistence is SO important in this business. Sending you good vibes, well wishes and all that good stuff! Getting the request for 50 pages means you're on your way!

Laura, It is so wonderful that you received a request for your first 50 pages. Obviously, that reader is a brilliant publishing professional. All the others are something else :). Sending you good vibes, positive feelings and well wishes for mor...

The first rejection went down smoothly. I surprised myself with how well I accepted it. The second response explained that the agency went out of business. That one scared me; just how bad is my selection process? The third response was a request ...

Creative pursuits, obsessions, dreams
I am an Architect and a quilter
Published Work:
Not yet...but I have the bug!!
Work in Progress:
Novel - Mystery set in central FL
Novel - Gothic tale
More about me:
I have called several places home - CA, CT, KY - but only FL has stuck. While hardly anyone is a genuine Florida Cracker, my kids are third generation. Does that me Cracker by default? Architecture is my first love, until I met Andrew (my 4 yr old) and later Lily (my 3 yr old). Somewhere in there is my husband, Kevin. Actually he's near the top, but don't tell him or it'll go to his head. Writing has always been a passion. One I satisfied through journals and letters. I am finishing my first novel with dreams of being published. I want to see my book on the shelf in Barnes and Noble one day - sooner rather than later.

wow, you write computerless? Like longhand? Oh my, I would implode. It happens that my brain and fingers do not coordinate their thoughts and all comes out in a duality of weaponry fought between a pen and my brain - I have to dodge my own bullets: words out of place, thoughts out of context. You must really be a solid, I am convinced I am a fluid, or maybe a gel? Whatever, in my next lifetime I will insist on a computer chip in my brain to store all the ideas that I get then forget. Getting old is Hell, or Hellish, or just plain shitty!

You know the nice thing about this profession or avocation? There's always a dream at the end of it. You can't say that about every pursuit or occupation. Maybe that is what makes it special.

Welcome.
