Dr. Alvin Wang, head of the Honors College at UCF, is looking for someone to check the formatting of the 200-some Honors College seniors working on Honors in the Major. The following are my notes of a telephone call with him. Sorry if I have misheard anything.
In the past they have worked with graduate students and the staff member overseeing them. Now I think they would like one person, a professional, someone with experience in teaching (and an affinity for) style formatting in academia.
The…

What the Hell, I have a ton of poetry weighing down my life. It has sat in piles gathering silverfish and dust for years. Might as well get it out there in dribbles little by little. So I have a new poetry blog,

I dream of whales.
Their music fills my mind.
I dive into the depths,
And swim with all my passion.
I am at last
Unfettered by the land
I float in ecstasy,
Among the pod,
That has claimed me
As their own
I dream of whales.
In the night,
Their shapes and music
Delight me.
In my sleeping hours,
The power of my vision
Transports me to
A mystic, mysterious realm
I dream of whales.
I dance to the
Music of their song
When day has broken
And I am gone,
Will the whale’s dream of me Continue

I have written a poem that I believe everyone should read not just woman and girls who are or were in an abusive relationship. Please pass this poem along to as many people as you can. Perhaps your local paper will print these poems or your local radio station will read them over the air. All I ask is that my blog is mentioned.
there is pain and sadness
there are tears of fear and sorrow
in eyes of wondrous beauty
dark bruises lie heavy upon her
from hammering fists
from kicking, booted feet

I looked
Into the looking glass
Of war
And looking
Back at me
Through the misty eyes
Of time
The demented
Faces of the dead
Old soldiers
Who surrendered
Their last breath
On broken battle fields
So many
Years before
I looked through
The looking glass
Of war
Into distant
Fields of green
Into the eyes
Of the young
Young soldiers
Waiting
Waiting for the call
Do they think
Do they dream
Dream of
Some distant glory
Do they believe
That a bullet
Could ever
Wear their name
As they play
On…

Rainbows, roses
And sweet penny dreams
A world full of wonders
Where both of us have been
We danced in the starlight
We played in the soft summer rain
I would give all that I have
To be there with you once again
But all I have left
Are black and white pictures
And memories that are fading away
In my dreams I still see
Old silent movies
Of those happy, long ago days
The rain on the window
Brings back distant memories
And for a moment it seems
That I’m back to the time
When we were still yo…

Hoyt and I returned from our 4.5 month trip abroad on May 22. It was an amazing adventure of a lifetime for us and I'm still processing what it means. Naturally, the best way for me to do that is by writing.

Here I've had this wonderful blog page sitting patiently waiting and I've ignored it ... how selfish of me. Do blog pages get lonesome? So, here I am writing and pondering. So many words so little time!
I hope the blog-muse will forgive me.

To relieve performance anxiety, I started writing a fiction story on Twitter. The 140 character limit slows the pace and my nasty internal critic. It's going so well and I'm having a blast! So far, I've got a tattoo'd chick with a wooden leg. It's got a panel that opens to reveal her Colt Python. There's an imaginary woman who everyone knows about, a sex-fiend scientist, a thief who wears brown suits and wing tips, a commisar's secretary...and finally secret blueprints for the next gen hovercraf…

Who are you?
I wonder?
I listen for the words of another.
I sit alone in my writer's chair
and ask the question,
is there anybody there?
I strain my ears
and rebuff dead air.
I have faith,
that you're somewhere.
But who are you?

What a surprise it was this morning to see the headline above on my Sentinel Letter to the Editor.
On this Good Friday morning, I feel the publishing of my good words about a horrific situation is truly a Good Day for me. It was in the spring of 1992 that the intensity of this seventeen year around the clock journey really began for me. And it was on April 15 1992 that I first wrote a poem about observing what I was seeing around me as I strolled on the sands of Ormond Beach. Five years earlier…
